Why Collaboration Matters More Than Control

Romain Quirot sat down with LBB Online for a wide-ranging conversation about craft, collaboration, and what it means to make something genuinely original in advertising right now.

The Paris-based director has built campaigns for Uber, KFC, Wells Fargo, YouTube, and Garmin, and brought that same sensibility to larger-canvas work like the Air France in-flight safety film, seen by over 150 million passengers, and an acclaimed career as a narrative feature filmmaker. He’s fascinated by what AI opens up visually, while feeling an equally strong pull toward something more human and organic. He thrives under constraints, sees ego as the enemy of good work, and believes the best scripts are the ones bold enough to commit to a distinct voice.

Romain also touches on two ambitious new feature projects in development, including a genre film he describes as sitting somewhere between The White Lotus and Alien.
